About Me
My name is Gayle Carver. As a child, I was the girl who won the school spelling bees. In college, I won first place in a medical terminology competition for the business club I was involved with. Anything medical-related continues to pique my interest.
After college, I worked seven years in an orthopedic clinic, where I performed duties to include transcription of chart notes, referral letters, impairment ratings, independent medical evaluations, released medical records while adhering to HIPAA, surgical scheduling, managing six providers' schedules, working with insurance companies and workers' comp to obtain precertification for procedures, and surgical billing utilizing ICD-9 and CPT codes.
After the birth of my daughter, I chose to leave the orthopedic clinic and work from home for a medical transcription company. It was then that I discovered the world of court reporting and scoping and trained with Scoping Careers International. Upon completion, I began performing various duties for a court reporting firm to include scoping, transcription, and proofing.
In 2009, I went out on my own and began scoping for court reporters and have been doing so since. It's the most enjoyable work I've ever performed because it's interesting and allows me to use the knowledge I've gained.
I've been married since 2001, and my daughter is now an adult. When I have spare time, I enjoy gardening, cooking, and making impressionistic acrylic or pastel art of landscapes and animals.
